Welcome to our Home Page

Grimsby Philharmonic Society has been a focal point for good music in the area for more than 150 years.

In these pages you will find:

Details of where to find us.

Who are we?

Grimsby Philharmonic Society has been in existence since January 1852. We are the choir of the Society, based in Grimsby and Cleethorpes at the mouth of the Humber Estuary in the area of North East Lincolnshire

We generally perform in Grimsby's Central Hall three or four times a year (September to June). We also support charitable events in North and North East Lincolnshire and each year support a specific charity.

Throughout the Choir's history, its performances have met with critical approval - most recently under conductors such as Michael Brewer, David Lawrence, Andrew Padmore, William Llewellyn, and Richard Howarth. Our present chorus-master is Sue Hollingworth from Scunthorpe, well known throughout the choral world.

We are very grateful that our concerts are supported by

Arts Council England, through Yorkshire Arts.

We are always keen to recruit new members, and to involve amateur instrumentalists of high standard, so if you would like to be part of our concerts, please look at the rehearsal and membership details. There is also a special place for patrons in our Society; those who wish to support but are not able to rehearse and sing with us. We are a friendly and relaxed choir, enjoying not only good singing but socialising too. Enough of the brief background - please read on.:
